Although the Rose has been highly esteemed since the dawn of history, the oil was not extracted until the sixteenth century. The first preparation of Rose Water was by Avicenna in the tenth century. The first Rose Otto was made in Persia. Through the Turks, the manufacture of Rose Otto was introduced into Europe, by way of Asia Minor, where it has since been produced. It was introduced into Bulgaria, then part of the Turkish Empire. Rose comforts the heart in grief and helps the bereaved, as well as those grieving for the end of a relationship. Rose is a tonic of the physical heart and also lifts the spirits, allays anxiety and is generally nurturing. Overall, Rose is quite exquisite; it is tender, uplifting and soothing.
