Citronella essential oil is obtained from a scented grass that grows wild and cultivated in Sri Lanka and other tropical areas. The leaves of Citronella are used for their aromatic and medicinal value in many cultures, for fever, intestinal parasites, digestive and menstrual problems. Its most widespread use is as an insect repellent. It is used in Chinese traditional medicine for rheumatic pain.
Citronella essential oil is a yellow-brown, mobile liquid with a fresh, powerful lemony scent. Used within candles to keep insects and mosquitoes away in the home and outdoors. Because of its insect repelling properties it is often overlooked as a good oil for relieving painful muscles and joints, nervous fatigue, migraines and headaches.
