Marjoram is a bushy perennial plant growing up to 60cm high with a hairy stem, dark green oval leaves and small whitish flowers in clusters. The whole plant is strongly aromatic.
Marjoram, Sweet was a very popular with and a common medicinal plant amongst the Ancient Greeks. The name originates from a Greek word meaning 'joy of the mountains'. It is a very useful herbs which has been used for its soothing, fortifying and warming effects.
