Cajeput Properties: Anti-spasmodic, relaxant; against infection, bacteria, and parasites; lowers blood congestion in the veins.

Cajeput Indications: Spasmophilia, spasmic and infectious enterocolitis; amoebic dysentery, intestinal parasites; varicose veins, hemorrhoids.

Cajeput Main Components: Methyl eugenol, eugenol, cineole, alpha-terpineol.

Cajeput Contraindications, side effects: None known for normal dosages.


Cajeput is a tall evergreen tree up to 30 metres high. The flexible trunk has a whitish spongy bark which flakes off easily. In Malaysia it is called 'caju-puti', meaning 'white wood', due to the colour of the timber.

Cajeput has been traditionally used for its antiseptic, antihelminthic, carminative and local analgesic properties by Australian aborigines.
