Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil
Latin Name: Cinnamomum zeylanicum
Part of plant: Twigs/Leaves
Chemical Componants: eugenol, β-caryophyllene, benzyl benzoate, linalol, acetoeugenol, cinnamyl acetate
Aroma Character: warm, spicy harsh but clove-like
Cinnamon is a tropical evergreen tree with fragrant bark and oval leaves, white flowers and blue-white berries. The essential oil is steam or water distilled from the leaves and small twigs.
Cinnamon essential oil has a fiery, harsh, spicy top notes and sweet, oriental undertones. It should not be confused with Cinnamon Bark essential oil which is a skin irritant and sensitiser, and is not used in therapy.
