Petitgrain belongs to the Rutaceae family. It is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves, twigs and small, green buds of the Bitter Orange tree in France, Paraguay, Italy, Morocco, Brazil and the United States. The name is derived from the little green buds, petit grains, which are part of the distillation material.
Petitgrain is a middle to base note oil with a warming and balancing temperament, a light, gentle, sweet yet lively and fruity scent and a light yellow colour.
