Sandalwood, or Bois de Santal, is traditionally distilled from the heartwood of an evergreen Indian tree which is parasitic on other trees.
Sandalwood essential oil is very helpful for laryngitis and sore throats. It is exceptionally long-lasting, and is used as a fixative in perfumes.
Sandalwood is now listed as an endangered species, as a result essential oil from Santalum album is no longer available from ethical suppliers. Essential oil from S austocaledonicum is not dissimilar in composition and we are happy to offer it as an alternative.
